Bethany Convent, Kable, Shimoga – Estd 4 August 1990

bethany_kableA diocesan primary school was started in Kable parish on 3 June 1981 under the management of the Shimoga Multi-purpose Social Services Society. Sr Brigitta from St Joseph’s Convent, Sagar. Sr Madhu from Fatima Convent, Doranahalli and Sr Irene from St. Mary’s Convent, Arsikere were chosen to be the pioneers of the new convent at Kable. Bethany convent Kable was the 100th house of the Congregation.

Msgr Raymond Francis Camillus Mascarenhas (Founder)

Founder

Raymond was born on 23 January 1875 to Joanna and Lazarus Mascarenhas of Mangalore, then residing at Shimoga. Having completed his academic and priestly training in Mangalore, he was ordained priest on 4 March 1900. He rendered pastoral service at Kallianpur, Udyavar and Agrar. At St Sebastian's Bendur, Monsignor was the founder parish priest from 1914 to 1931. Read More
